Another House-backed initiative would end non-school property taxes on homesteaded properties, pending 60% voter approval in 2026. Gov. Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has also called for eliminating taxes on homesteaded property, though detailed language has not been released. In the Senate, Sen. Florida State Senator Tom Leek is proposing a cap on local government spending tied to population growth and inflation, which could be enacted without a public vote.
