Trader Joe’s Is Opening 18 More Stores, But Port St. Lucie Still Didn’t Make the List

Trader Joe’s fans have another reason to keep checking the map.

The popular grocery chain is expanding again, with 18 more stores planned across 12 states in the coming months. Florida made the list, but Port St. Lucie did not. Instead, the two Florida locations announced are Orlando and West Palm Beach, according to recent reports and Trader Joe’s store search listings.

For Treasure Coast shoppers, that means the wait continues.

Trader Joe’s has built a loyal following nationwide for its frozen meals, snacks, seasonal products, and private-label favorites. The company already operates more than 600 stores across the U.S., and this latest expansion adds new locations in Arizona, California, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Kansas, Louisiana, Massachusetts, New Jersey, Texas, Utah, and Washington.

The New Florida Trader Joe’s Locations

The two new Florida stores announced are:

  • Orlando — 1444 North Alafaya Trail, Orlando, FL 32828

  • West Palm Beach — 8111 S Dixie Hwy., West Palm Beach, FL 33405

That is welcome news for shoppers in Central and South Florida, but it does not help residents in Port St. Lucie who have been hoping the grocer would finally head farther north along the coast.

Trader Joe’s newest planned locations include: Tucson, Arizona; Anaheim Hills and Paso Robles, California; Orlando and West Palm Beach, Florida; Johns Creek, Georgia; Oswego, Illinois; Merriam, Kansas; Mandeville, New Orleans, and Lafayette, Louisiana; Reading, Massachusetts; West Orange, New Jersey; McKinney, Texas; Herriman, Utah; and Woodinville, Spokane Valley, and Seattle, Washington.

No Opening Date for Port St. Lucie Because There’s No Store Announced

At this point, there is still no announced Trader Joe’s location for Port St. Lucie.

Reports say the 18 newly announced stores are expected to open within roughly the next three to six months, but exact opening dates have not been publicly confirmed. For local shoppers, that means there is still no official sign that Port St. Lucie is next in line.

Why Port St. Lucie Residents Are Still Waiting

Trader Joe’s has said in the past that store decisions are based on factors such as population density, parking, traffic flow, and whether a location fits the company’s needs, rather than simply public requests. So even though demand may be there, that does not automatically translate into a new store announcement.

For now, Port St. Lucie shoppers will have to keep making the drive to other cities or continue hoping the Treasure Coast lands on a future expansion list.

Until then, the headline for Port St. Lucie is simple: Florida got two new Trader Joe’s locations, but neither one is here.
