St. Lucie County Receives FDOT Certification for Sidewalk Projects

St. Lucie County, Florida has been awarded Full Local Agency Program Certification by the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT), enabling the county to oversee three federally funded sidewalk projects. This achievement aligns with the county’s broader commitment to infrastructure, as highlighted in the Port St. Lucie Capital Improvement Program and its substantial investments in community development.

The projects include new sidewalks along St. James Drive from Northeast Lazy River Parkway to Northeast Royce Avenue, Sunrise Boulevard from Bell Avenue to North St. Lucie Water Control District Canal 10, and Easy Street from U.S. Highway 1 to Canal 22 at SUN Trail. These projects are in the initial development phase, with construction timelines yet to be determined. In addition to these sidewalk initiatives, residents may also notice progress at major intersections, such as the St. Lucie West Blvd and NW Peacock Blvd intersection improvements, and can look forward to further enhancements outlined in the 2025-2029 Capital Improvement Plan.
