St. Lucie County plans to add a hotel at Treasure Coast International Airport (Fort Pierce) and will begin accepting development proposals in the coming months. The airport has recently seen increased activity, including American Airlines pilot training and new commercial flights, which could further boost demand for local accommodations.
According to county officials, the process for reviewing and approving hotel proposals is expected to take six to nine months once submissions open. Nearby, Vero Beach Regional Airport has also welcomed American Airlines, expanding service with three carriers, signaling a trend of regional airport growth. As these airports evolve, Vero Beach International Airport is positioning itself as Florida’s next global gateway, which may influence future development in the area.
