Deputies: Online marketplace meetup in Fort Pierce ends in mass shooting; 4 shot, 1 sought

Deputies and emergency vehicles on scene of Fort Pierce marketplace shooting

Four people were shot in Fort Pierce on Sunday afternoon during what authorities believe was an attempted online marketplace transaction that turned into a violent ambush. This incident comes amid heightened concerns in the area, especially following recent events where guns and ammunition were seized in Fort Pierce after threats involving the president.

The shooting occurred at 1:15 p.m. on the 3600 block of Avenue R in Fort Pierce, according to the St. Lucie County Sheriff’s Office. A preliminary investigation revealed that an individual arrived at the address intending to purchase an item but was instead ambushed by three suspects who opened fire. In a separate case, authorities had previously seized two guns in Fort Pierce after threats to President Trump, highlighting ongoing law enforcement vigilance in the region.

All four victims were transported to the hospital for treatment, though the extent of their injuries and their identities have not been released. Deputies believe a fifth individual may have been involved in the incident and are working to identify and locate that person. The community has seen similar investigations recently, such as when a Fort Pierce man was found with two guns after making threats.

Upon arrival at the scene, deputies secured the area and rendered aid to the victims in coordination with St. Lucie County Fire Rescue. The Criminal Investigations Division has taken over the investigation, and a large law enforcement presence remains in the vicinity as the investigation continues.
