St. Lucie County Fair Sees Record Turnout on Opening Weekend

Large crowds at the St. Lucie County Fair enjoying rides and entertainment.

The annual St. Lucie County Fair returned with an impressive turnout during its opening weekend, attracting large crowds eager to participate in the event lasting until March 9. High volumes of attendees and vehicles did not diminish the enthusiasm surrounding this cherished community gathering.

Significant Rise in Ticket Sales

Jay Spicer, Executive Director of the St. Lucie County Fair Association, highlighted a notable 40% increase in advanced ticket sales compared to past years. “It’s been a fabulous turnout so far,” Spicer stated, underscoring the fair’s rising popularity and the community’s eagerness to engage with the event.

Enthusiastic Visitors

The fair is projected to welcome approximately 120,000 visitors over its duration. Attendees like Heather Cooper expressed their excitement, participating with her daughter, sharing, “We worship the fair. We love the fair. This is something we look forward to every year round.” Sam Dixon, attending with his family, emphasized the fair’s appeal for family fun, despite encountering substantial lines.

Challenges and Solutions

With the increasing popularity, attendees faced longer queues at the entrance. However, Dixon observed that the line was progressing steadily. Spicer noted that previous issues with electronic ticketing, due to screen-captured QR code fraud, prompted the return to printed tickets this year. This decision aimed to streamline entrance procedures and enhance security.

Advisories for a Smooth Experience

There were additional delays for those collecting “mega passes,” as they required photo identification, lengthening the processing time. Spicer advised that arriving early could help minimize waiting periods and ensure a seamless fair experience.

As the fair continues, organizers are hopeful to maintain its momentum, attracting locals and visitors looking for entertainment and community involvement.
