Greenberg explained that the neighborhood has significantly developed over recent years, yet critical infrastructure such as street lighting appears overlooked. “It’s all been built up over the last few years, but I think certain things were left out in the plan,” he stated.
He further detailed the issue, describing how his early morning walks are particularly hazardous due to darkness. The only illumination currently available comes from nearby businesses and apartment buildings, insufficiently addressing pedestrian safety.
City Responds to Lighting Issues
In response to these concerns, WPTV reporter Brooke Chau contacted the City of Port St. Lucie. City officials confirmed that Florida Power & Light (FPL) and Mattamy Homes are actively working to install new streetlights along the problematic areas of Village Parkway and Community Drive.
The city spokesperson indicated that the installation is expected to be completed by July 2025. However, Greenberg remains cautiously optimistic, remarking, “I’ll believe it when I see it.”
